Day 30

Forty Days of Preparation Daily Devotions

Day Thirty

 Commit to Excellence

Prov 17:27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

We serve a God of excellence. We likewise should commit to excellence in all aspects of our lives. Excellence raises the standards. Excellence brings promotion. Excellence causes you to feel great about your efforts. Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability. Commit to excellence.

A. Commit to excellence as a lifestyle.

Dan 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

B. We should serve God with excellence.

Eph 6:6-7 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Col 3:23-24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

C. Commit to excellence in speech.

Prov 17:7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Ps 37:30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

Ps 71:15-16 My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. 16I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

D. The excellent dress of Solomon's servants impressed the Queen of Sheba.

2 Chron 9:3-4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, 4And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

F. Work

Eccl 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Sample PrayerFather, in the name of Jesus, today I make a decision to walk in excellence in all aspects of my life. I ask you for your help as I endeavor to walk in excellence. In Jesus name, Amen.
