Day Thirty-One

Forgiveness

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Christians can rejoice in the fact that we have been forgiven by God.  Eph 1:7 says  "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; however, a condition of God's forgiveness is that we forgive others.   No matter what wrong has been done unto you, forgive.  You cannot afford to hold unforgiveness in your heart and block your own blessings.  Let go of the hurt that is eating at you. Forgive and you shall be forgiven.

A.  Forgiveness is a condition of receiving God's forgiveness.

Matt 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:  15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

B.  Unforgiveness will hinder your prayers.

Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.  26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Matt 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;  24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

C.  Be kind and tenderhearted.

Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

 D.  Forgive yourself.

1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.  21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

E.  Accept God's forgiveness.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Sample Prayer:  Father, I forgive ________________ (name) today.  I accept your forgiveness and likewise I forgive myself.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
