A Word in Season Day 24

Sunday, October 24, 2010                                                             Letting Go of the Past

Forgetting Those Things Which are Behind

Gen 19:15-18 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

No Looking Back! You cannot go with your future while holding on to your past. Lot's wife looked back with a longing for the past. Quit meditating on old habits, lifestyles, or relationships. Looking back while driving a car can be deadly. Likewise looking back trying to live as a Christian can destroy your spiritual life.

Luke 17:32-33 Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Phil 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Prayer Focus: Lord, deliver me from the pull of the past, the influences of the past, and the pains of the past.

Verse of the Day: Isa 43:18   Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Living the Word Today: Move on from the darkness of the past to the brightness of the future.
