Love Never Fails
1 Cor 13:8 "Love never fails¦ NIV
God loved us so much that he gave His Son Jesus to die on a cross for our sins. Jesus loved us so much that he endured crucifixion and death on the cross so that we might live. "Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. (1 John 5:11) You have to purpose to walk in love. Here are some reasons you must walk in love:
A. God commands us to love one another.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
B. Love is a fruit of Christianity.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. 36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord,
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
C. Love is required in order for faith to work.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
D. Brotherly love causes you to treat everybody right.
Heb 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Rom 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Eph 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
1 Thess 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
E. Love is a motivation for service.
Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
F. God is love.
1 John 4:7-9-11 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
G. You must love others before you can love God.
1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
Sample Prayer: Dear God, I purpose to walk in love. In Jesus Name, Amen.
