Day 6

Forty Days of Preparation Daily Devotions

 Day Six

Standing in the Gap

Ezek 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. 31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.

Standing in the gap means interceding or praying on the behalf of others. This may be individuals, institutions, organization, areas, etc. God hears and responds to the prayers of His children. Pray for your family's salvation and victory in life. Pray on behalf of co-workers and friends. Pray for your church, pastor and church family. We are instructed to pray for those in authority, especially government leaders. Your prayer today (and every day) will make a difference in the lives of others as well as in your own life. Stand in the gap.

A. Dominion has been given unto the believer.

Gen 1: 26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion ¦

Ps 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

B. You are the salt of the earth.

Matt 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Mark 9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

C. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.

Matt 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

D. Christians are to pray for one another.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

E. Find Scripture to support your prayers for others.

Phil 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

1 Thess 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Prayer Instructions: Make a list of those that you will pray for today. Find scripture that promise you the answer you are believing for. Pray for others in accordance with God's Word. Have faith for answered prayer.
