Day 1

Forty Days of Preparation Daily Devotions

  Day One

Personal Consecration

1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The Scriptures clearly mandate that we live a life of consecration or holiness. That means a life that is spiritually and morally clean. Start your forty day journey by committing to a life of personal consecration. Make this commitment for a lifetime. Here are five things that will help you live a life of holiness:

A. Admit where you are.

Ps 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Prov 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

B. Repent-turn completely away from sin.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

C. Purpose to continue to live a consecrated life.

Lev 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

D. Ask God for Help Daily.

Ps 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

E. Daily Hide God's Word in Your Heart.

Ps 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Mark 4:14 The sower soweth the word.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Sample Prayer: Father I ask you to forgive me for my sins. I repent of sin in my life. I commit before you today to live a consecrated life of holiness before you. Help me Lord to know my ways and strengthen me to live clean. I will hide your word in my heart. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
